JOEL
Joel has been a member of Galloway NYC since 1999, when he joined to train for the Marine Corps Marathon - thinking it would be his only marathon ever. 28 marathons and over 50 half-marathons later, he is still running and is a true believer in the run-walk-run method! Joel has been a part of the leadership team of Galloway NYC since 2012, and has been a certified running coach since 2016. When not running, he is the assistant principal at the NYC Museum School. Joel believes that running marathons and half-marathons teaches you as much about yourself mentally as it does physically, and we can all find enjoyment in that process. Favorite Races: NYC Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon |
ROBIN
Robin has run 43 marathons, 80+ half marathons and one ultra (60K), all using the Galloway method. Run-walk-run has enabled Robin to run injury-free since 1999 and to qualify for and complete four Boston Marathons. In 2017, she celebrated her 15th NYC Marathon by running with both of her sons. Favorite Race: Brooklyn Half Marathon |
RYAN
Dang, Ryan has developed a love of running because of Galloway! Starting his running journey in 2016 with Charlotte Galloway he was encouraged by friends to train for a half-marathon, which he completed his first in Kiawah Beach, SC. After moving to New York City in October 2016, he was walking his dog Spotacus on a Sunday morning and stumbled upon the insanely energetic NYC Marathon and knew right then and there he wanted to run that race. After joining NYC Galloway he finished his first full marathon in 2018! As a new New Yorker, Galloway allowed him to explore the city with new friends during the Saturday runs. When Ryan isn’t running you’ll find him seeking new experiences and adventures: traveling, eating, competing and volunteering. Favorite Race: NYC Half Marathon |

AMANDA
Amanda been with Galloway since 2014 and a pace group leader since 2016. She ran her first marathon in 2010. She has run the New York City Marathon three times and will run it for a fourth time this year. Amanda joined Galloway NYC when she moved to New York City and was looking for a new club, a way to meet new friends, and see the city. There is no better way to experience New York City than during a long run! Since adopting the Galloway method of running, she feels much better after long runs and has remained injury free. In addition, Amanda has gained a great network of friends and been able to see areas of the city in ways she might have never have otherwise experienced. When Amanda is not running she love to travel to world. Favorite Race: Edinburgh, Scotland Marathon |
LUCIA
Lucia has been running with Galloway NYC for the past three seasons. Thanks to the program and the support of an amazing team, she was able to complete the her first marathon, NYC 2017, strong and smiling the entire way. She loves the outdoors, hiking and traveling/exploring. She is amazed by how New York City pushed her out of her comfort zone into long distance running, something she would have never thought about a few years back! Galloway was just the cherry on top, bringing laughter and camaraderie during the steamy long summer runs. Please don’t mind her if she gasps or makes silly noises whenever she spots a golden retriever (or basically every single dog) during long runs. Favorite Race: NYC Marathon |
PATRICK
Patrick began running in 2013 and quickly became hooked! He ran his first marathon in 2014 at NYC and has now run a total of 13 marathons. This is Patrick's sixth year with Galloway NYC and his fifth year as a Pace Group Leader. He hadn't previously run using Galloway before joining the group in 2015, but soon realized that this method works great for him! He finds his recovery time to be much quicker after long runs. Most importantly, he improved over 72 minutes from his first marathon to his second (and his first using the Galloway method) and he owes a large part of that to Galloway. He loves traveling for races with friends from the Galloway group and exploring new cities. Favorite Race: Edinburgh Marathon |

CARA
Cara joined Galloway NYC in 2014 and returned after a brief hiatus in 2018. She has completed two marathons and plans to run New York City--for the first time!--this fall. This is her first year as a pace group leader. In her non-running life, Cara is a lawyer who enjoys terrible puns, weird physical therapy exercises, and snacks. Favorite Race: Miami Marathon |

She has completed 68 marathons so far (including 12 NYC marathons and 1 international marathon in Paris, France), and has 1 state remaining to complete her goal of 50 states plus DC and Puerto Rico. #SavingHawaiiForLast. She has done 2 ultra marathons and in 2013 ran 5 consecutive marathons - 5 states in 5 days with 5 friends and on the 5th day ran 30 minutes faster than the first! Always running the Galloway way and always injury free... for her, there’s just no other way. Elvia likes to smile a lot… it produces serotonin, which keeps her happy and helps her run better…not necessarily faster, but better. :) Elvia has been a Registered Dental Hygienist in NYC for 38 years and is also a Pink Warrior... walking, running and fundraising to fight women's cancer. Favorite Race: Napa Valley Ragnar Relay |

KENDRA
Kendra has been running with the Galloway NYC club since 2016 and is thrilled to continue raising the profile of Galloway in the NYC running community and outfitting the team with awesome swag! She also leads the team's Wednesday night and Off-Season runs. Kendra started running in 2015 to raise money for a charity close to heart (the SYTA Youth Foundation) and fell in love with the sport and community. Her Galloway teammates planted the idea that she could run a marathon (something that was never on her bucket list) and she has since completed the NYC Marathon twice... aiming for her third in 2020! She has also completed 26 half marathons and countless shorter distances. Kendra also serves as an ambassador for Nuun hydration, Honey Stinger, PRO Compression socks, and the Boilermaker 15K Road Race. When not running, Kendra travels the world selling Broadway shows and can be found in a theatre many nights each week. She's also a music fanatic and a karaoke superstar. Favorite Race: Boilermaker 15k in Utica, NY |
MARISA
Marisa is thrilled to be joining the Pace Group Leader team! Marisa originally started running in 2012 using the Galloway Run-Walk-Run method from the beginning. After running solo for 7 years, she joined Galloway NYC last year and hasn't looked back since! Since 2012, Marisa has completed over 35 half marathons and 4 marathons. A regular at RunDisney races, she recently completed the 2020 Dopey Challenge (4 races in 4 days: 5K, 10K, Half, and Full Marathon). When not traveling for races, Marisa works at a not-for-profit software company supporting the arts and culture world and is often found traveling the country working at local theaters, museums, symphonies, and zoos. Favorite Race: Disneyland Paris Half Marathon |
MICHELLE
Michelle began running in 2014, completing the Brooklyn Half Marathon on a dare. While she was using the run/walk method, she didn't learn about Galloway NYC until 2016, when Karen Casko introduced her to this lovely and amazing group. She's completed many halfs and one marathon (Chicago 2017). She swore she would never do another marathon again, but alas, NYC 2020 was calling her name. As her day job, Michelle works as an assistant professor of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where she studies the effects of drug use and genetics on the cognition of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Michelle lives in Westchester Co with her amazing Cardigan Corgi, Neville (and her husband, too). Favorite Race: Mini 10K, followed closely behind with the no longer RnR Vancouver |

She has since completed 18 half marathons, 2 full marathons (NYC in November of 2019, and Disney in January of 2020) and is training for the 50th anniversary NYC marathon in November. BARBARA
Barbara has been running with Galloway NYC since 2019 when she joined to prepare for fall and summer races and had always walked her races until joining the team. She started racing after turning 60 and her first race was a half marathon in North Carolina at Victory Junction Camp. The highlight of that race for her was meeting Richard Petty and having a carb-loading pasta party at his house. Barbara finished last, but she finished! and only half the runners who started that day did. She has done multiple races since her first, ranging from 5k to half marathon, and her favorite distance - 10k. Barbara is a retired pediatric nurse and has 2 children and 1 grandson. She is an animal lover and currently has 4 cats and 1 dog. Her goal race is the NYC Marathon this fall at age 67! Favorite Race: Half Marathon at Camp Victory Junction |
