Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We committed to diversity and inclusion in our running community. We are an anti-racist running club and see our position in the running community as vital to the process of inclusion and representation. We have always been a club that welcomes people who, for various reasons, aren’t welcomed or comfortable in other clubs, usually based on speed or fitness level.
Now, we are turning our focus to the similar inclusion and participation of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) from all parts of the tri-state area running community. We will actively seek to recruit members from diverse backgrounds and to promote diversity in our leadership, bringing as many voices to our decision making processes as possible.
Our code of conduct requires that all members embrace others with dignity and respect. We are identifying the places where we may have historically fallen short of these goals, and are actively seeking to remedy these issues. We support all initiatives, whether through NYRR, Rebuild NYRR, NYC Running IDEA, or elsewhere, that seek to highlight and disrupt practices or policies that further inequity, discrimination, racism, injustice, or favoritism of any one group over another.
